Tarotscope: Capricorn Season

DSC_0060.JPG

Truth is, I've always been obsessed with Capricorns. My parents are both Caps (when I was younger, my professional artist bio even mentioned that I was a 'Pisces sun raised by two Capricorns.' #alwaysbeenlikethis), and some of the people I admire the most are stubborn, funny, down-to-earth Cappies. So, happy birthday season, Capricorn oh holisticism members! We should probably be best friends.

But poor lil’ Capricorns—the start of your season really gets outshined by Christmas, doesn’t it? But now, we’re putting all the focus on you. From December 22nd to January 19th, it’s all about ambition, goal setting, organization, and getting shit done. Aka Capricorn to the max. Perfectly for the new year, right?

Helen Schmidt, our resident Tarot expert, tells us that these next few weeks are the perfect time to lean into that Tracy Flick-like energy in order to make big strides towards our goals. She pulled a tarotscope for us this month around the intention of that get-it-done energy—and oh baby, it’s good.

Sidenote: Ever since our Tarot 101 workshop with Helen in LA a few weeks ago, I’ve been trying to pull a card every morning to get a feel for what to expect or think about for the day ahead. It’s been really interesting, and I feel like it makes me that much more present as I go through my day. Have you been trying Helen’s at-home Tarot prompt? How’s it been working for you? Let us know in the comments below!

CAPRICORN

Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign that teaches us the beauty of structures, rules, and responsibilities. Understanding these limitations and possibilities offers a sense of direction to success.

The sun moved into Capricorn on December 21. This is your time to work on setting goals. Achieving the small goals are the building blocks that help you achieve your long-term goals.

How do we use our short-term goal to get us to our long-term goal?

Star

Stay present. Like Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

The Star is the humanitarian starlet embracing the spotlight of achievement. This card oozes well-deserved appraisal and attention.

In context to the question, it asks that we point that spotlight on the short-term goal we just achieved. This is an emphasis that the short-term goals really matter. So after success, rather than immediately looking for the next goal to chase, take a moment to recognize and celebrate that achievement. Honor through retail therapy, drinks, or dinner with a close friend.

Here’s how you can use Tarot (or Oracle) cards to see how your short-term goal can get you to your long-term goal.

  1. Journal about a short-term goal you are working on that is a part of your long-term goal.

  2. While you shuffle the cards think about your long-term goal. Fan the cards into a half moon shape.

  3. Ask your cards:  How do I use this short-term goal to get me to my long-term goal?

  4. Scan the cards. Pull the card that is grabbing your attention. It holds the answer.
